Certified farmers share their lands with many emblematic rainforest species such as toucans, hummingbirds, parrots, monkeys, ocelots, tree frogs, bromeliads, rare orchids and butterflies. Since coffee grown in the shade is slower-ripening, and often is drawn from vintage cultivars, there is the suggestion that it tastes better while containing more complex flavors.
