Caressed by breezes from the Pacific ocean far below, Finca las Nieves has been producing some of the finest organic coffee in the world since the 19th century. Today, Las Nieves is once again awake, producing superb shade grown Altura organic coffee, while protecting its fabulous heritage of forest and fauna. It is our privilege to be part of preserving and sharing this extraordinary and magical place.

Come visit Finca Las Nieves. Our first three bungalows are now available for your enjoyment at $150usd per night, including two meals per day, snacks and transportation to and from the Hotel Santa Fe.

Set in one of the most beautiful parts of Mexico, the Oaxacan cloud forest, Las Nieves had become all but forgotten...wonderfully lost in time, so that its biggest trees have been remained uncut, its animals unhunted...and filled, too, with glorious birds seeking refuge.

We hand pick only the ripest red berries over many weeks in order to deliver the very highest quality bean. After picking, our beans are carefully processed and sun dried on raised racks.

We will soon be able to provide you with FRESH roasted organic beans within 72hrs of roasting by DHL.

Finca Las Nieves ~ The Coffee Farm of the Snows

The first Oaxacan coffee farms were founded in the 1870's, in the area around el Cerro de Pluma, "Feather Mountain", in the Zapotec hill country above and beyond Pochutla. As it turned out conditions in the Oaxacan coastal range couldn't have been better for coffee cultivation: the perfect altitude, warm coastal breezes and forested slopes to provide the necessary shade.

Borbon is an 'old-growth' type of arabica bean dating back to the 1700's when coffee was first planted in the Americas. Borbon plants have since been replaced by new, agribusiness varieties. Borbon requires shade and flourishes under organic conditions. Becuase it is a larger plant, thus needing more space/acre, it produces yields of only 1/4 of modern coffee plants.
